The UPC0920 Battery Capacitor is the smallest format in the Lithogenix battery capacitor range, developed for applications where available installation space is extremely limited.
With an approximate size of 9 mm in diameter and 20 mm in height, UPC0920 can be integrated alongside compact primary lithium cells such as ER14250 or used in selected standalone low-energy systems. Its role is particularly valuable where the device operates at low average power but periodically needs additional energy for wireless communication, sensing, memory retention, or other short active events.
Compact Pulse Support for ER Battery Systems
Li-SOCl₂ batteries are highly effective for long-duration, low-current operation, but some wireless devices create brief current peaks that are less suitable for the primary cell alone.
UPC0920 can be used as a supporting energy component in compact ER battery systems, helping supply short bursts of power while allowing the primary battery to remain focused on long-term energy delivery.
This configuration is especially useful when the enclosure cannot accommodate a larger battery or capacitor.
Designed for Miniature Connected Devices
At only 9 × 20 mm, UPC0920 is suitable for products where every millimeter of internal space matters.
Typical devices may spend most of their time asleep or monitoring at very low power, then periodically activate Bluetooth, GPS, RFID, or other communication functions. In these designs, the capacitor can provide short-duration energy support without significantly increasing the overall battery system size.
Typical Hybrid Applications
Animal Tracking Devices
Suitable for compact GPS or Bluetooth tracking devices used for birds, poultry, small pets, and other applications where weight and enclosure volume must be kept to a minimum.
Medical Cold-Chain Tags
Can support miniature vaccine and pharmaceutical temperature loggers that combine continuous monitoring with periodic Bluetooth, RFID, or wireless data transmission.
Compact IoT Sensors
Applicable to small wireless sensors and monitoring nodes that use a primary lithium cell for long-term energy and require additional support during communication events.
Standalone Applications
Energy Harvesting Sensors
UPC0920 can be integrated into selected low-power energy-harvesting systems, including miniature solar-powered indoor sensors, where harvested energy is stored temporarily and released during measurement or wireless transmission.
RTC & SRAM Memory Backup
The capacitor can also be considered for RTC, SRAM, and memory-retention circuits requiring compact backup power and long operating life.
Laser-Sealed Construction for Long-Term Reliability
UPC0920 uses laser sealing technology to support a stable, durable enclosure suitable for long-term industrial and outdoor deployment.
This construction approach is particularly relevant to devices expected to remain installed for extended periods, where leakage control, sealing integrity, and consistent performance are important to the overall reliability of the power system.
